The Sanctity of Fishing

A good read.

Granted, not about fishing in Northern Ontario. And perhaps too much about bass and live wells.

But I feel Jason's points about social media taking some of the joy out of fishing AND, as importantly, hurting our fisheries, are valid. I see way too many fish hanging on a stringer off a boat or a dock (not so many live wells in the far north where I fish) waiting until everyone in the party gets back to camp so the overwhelming number of fish can be put into one social media photo. Sadly, the desire to have as many fish as possible in one photo has caused many to have fish still in the refrigerator or cooler two days later when, instead, they could have eaten fresh fish every day.

Ego and fishing may not be compatible.
