Alewives, Vitamin B and Steelhead

There is speculation from New York State's Department of Environmental Concern (DEC) that Steelhead in Lake Ontario may be stressed by a lack of vitamin B in their diet; there primary food source being alewives.

As of now, it's simply speculation. But there is some anecdotal evidence of Early Mortality Syndrome in Steelhead.

All About The Northern Ontario Walleye Trail (NOWT)
