Happy New Year from Fish North Ontario

Happy New Year from Fish North Ontario

I hope the New Year finds in the great Northern Ontario bush. Maybe hunkered around the wood stove in a warm cabin with a good book and even better friends. Perhaps out on the ice on a sunny crisp day with your favorite toddy and a nice little fire, ready for shore lunch.

Keep your friends close, keep the dogs closer and slide on in to 2014 with grace, speed and, of course, tight lines.

Cheers!

The Canadian Ice Service from Environment Canada is a helpful website for those of you who enjoy the hard-water fishing.

Ice charts and information are updated regularly. The information provided is primarily for those of you who fish or travel the big waters. Right from the site you can also link to Weather Canada.

My Favorite Rod Case

The Plano Rod Case is my favorite case for traveling in and about Northern Ontario and beyond. It's hardy enough to handle trucks, trains, boats and 4-wheelers. It has fallen off all of these, some at high speeds, and bounced right back.

Check out my favorite rod case with details here.

Ontario Ice Fishing Hut and Bungalow Rental Directory

Well here's an excellent resource. Ontario Ice Fishing has a super Fishing Hut and Bungalow Rental Directory.

It's not quite yet solid ice, but we're getting closer.

And by the way, roughing it is optional.
