Fisheries Management Zone 5 Advisory Council Seeks Input

Fisheries Management Zone Councils have been developed across Ontario to further encourage public involvement with the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) in Fisheries Management planning.  The role of each council is to seek out and contribute public input into development of a Fisheries Management Plan.

The Zone 5 Advisory Council and the MNR have identified these main issues and are looking for your input:
  1. Walleye: Management for quality of fishery
  2. Lake Trout: Managing for sustainability of populations
  3. Smallmouth Bass: Determining management objective
  4. Northern Pike: Determining management objective with respect to current regulation
  5. Black Crappie: Determining management objective
  6. Commercial Fisheries: Updating management objectives and direction

The council has set up feedback forms on its website, as well as in paper form, for anglers in Fort Frances, Kenora, Dryden, and other area communities to provide their thoughts on some of the proposed regulation changes.
