"In 2012, the Ministry of Natural Resources completed a scientific review of long-term fisheries data from Lake Nipissing. The review suggested that there is a marked drop in the walleye numbers, particularly of spawning walleye. The data also showed that fishing is the primary factor in the decline of the walleye population in Lake Nipissing." source: MNR.gov

Trophy Waters
There's an area in Northwest Ontario called Trophy Waters. The camps, lodges outposts and business members of Trophy Waters are committed to maintaining and improving the fragile fisheries in this area.
High harvest rates take a huge toll on fish that grow slowly in these cold Northern waters. So catch and release is promoted, while still allowing room to harvest your fish dinners.
Check out the members listing. Each member provides a website link so you can plan your next fishing trip in Trophy Waters.

Fisheries Management Zone 5 Advisory Council Seeks Input
Fisheries Management Zone Councils have been developed across Ontario to further encourage public involvement with the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) in Fisheries Management planning. The role of each council is to seek out and contribute public input into development of a Fisheries Management Plan.
The Zone 5 Advisory Council and the MNR have identified these main issues and are looking for your input:
- Walleye: Management for quality of fishery
- Lake Trout: Managing for sustainability of populations
- Smallmouth Bass: Determining management objective
- Northern Pike: Determining management objective with respect to current regulation
- Black Crappie: Determining management objective
- Commercial Fisheries: Updating management objectives and direction
The council has set up feedback forms on its website, as well as in paper form, for anglers in Fort Frances, Kenora, Dryden, and other area communities to provide their thoughts on some of the proposed regulation changes.

... From A Canadian Fishing Guide.
Feast on your fillets with this excellent recipe book by Darryl Choronzey. Walleye, Perch, Northern Pike, Muskellunge, Lake Trout, Brook Trout, Steelhead, Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, Panfish, Whitefish, Smelts, Fish Sauces, Soups and Chowders, Smoking, Canning and Pickling. It's all there.
This recipe book is small enough and inexpensive enough to have one for home and one for camp. I even keep one in my fish box, just in case I'm somewhere in between, like on the ice or fishing the far end of a remote lake.
