Lake Superior Provincial Park
Right on the heels of my Wawa post, I thought it useful to mention Lake Superior Provincial Park.
If your fishing trip takes you anywhere near Lake Superior Provincial Park, do yourself a favor and plan some time for this most beautiful park.
Lake Superior Provincial Park is 1,600 square kilometers of raw and majestic beauty, accessed by highway 17 North out of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, just south of Wawa.
Artifacts uncovered in the park have been carbon dated as early as 500 BC and you can view Agawa Rock Pictographs estimated to be between 150 and 400 years old. The park's history includes hunting, trapping and lumbering.
In addition to hiking and canoeing, the park is open to hunting and fishing, including ice fishing. You can fish for trout, salmon, pike and walleye in the park, although trout and salmon are most common.

The Land of the Goose
Wawa, Ontario sits in a beautiful area that is considered the gateway to some of the most plentiful sporting areas in Northern Ontario.
The tourism division of the Municipality of Wawa is a great place to start your trip plans if you are heading north for some great fishing.
Many folks find Wawa a good overnight stay when their drive to their fishing spot will take more than one day. Others love the fishing in the Wawa area.
The Algoma Central Railway heads north out of Hawk Junction (a very short distance from Wawa) and takes many fishermen and women to their final destination.
Wawa has some outstanding snowmobiling and hiking trails.
Wawa is very close to Superior Provincial Park, one of the most dramatic parks in Ontario.
And there are several great places to get some very good Northern Ontario food.
And if you are flying into your fishing destination, there's a good chance you'll be flying out of the Wawa area with Hawk Air, Air-Dale or Watson's Skyways.
Bookmark Wawa's Tourism Site. Sooner or later, you will be glad you've got it.

Ontario's Off Road Vehicle Regulations
Many of us use ORV's or "4-Wheelers" to get to our favorite fishing lake.
If you are planning to use an Off Road Vehicle while fishing in Ontario, it is in your best interest to know the regulations.

Ashes to Ammo
Leave it to "All Things Considered" on National Public Radio. This one is for my hunting friends.
"The idea was born one night when Holmes and Parnell were working the late shift, talking about how they wanted to be buried. Holmes said he wanted to be cremated, sprinkled on a nearby lake. His partner had another idea."
I've heard of turning your ashed to diamonds, but "Ashes to Ammo" puts a whole new twist in getting fired.
Do we have something similar for fishermen and women? Let me hear your comments.
